The Sharks sitting at around $1.5M in cap space have no room for Phaneuf unless they plan of sending Brenden Dillon out and the Leafs decide to eat salary at the same time. So SJ is out, Leafs are using SJ as leverage to get more out of LA.

Just looked up the cap numbers, can't see a deal getting done between the two unless the Leafs get sucked into taking back Brown or Gaborik or salary

I dont see what the kings would give up for phaneuf.. martinez, forbort, and a second or a guy like mersch? They can't trade Brown and I dont think theyd give up anyone in their top 6. Nor would they give up doughty or muzzin, but they have to shed around 4 mil of cap space to make it work. Anyone have any better proposals?

well they are certainly putting their best skate forward when it comes to tanking. I am calling my shot right now: Kings get 1 win in October and won't start any kind of back to back wins until they get to their usual December slump part of the season. that mediocrity will last through then end of January and by then they will be sniffing around a play off spot but all for not because from February to April they will go back to crapping the bed and end up 7th in the pacific.

I think you may be right, I don't see the team trading someone like Brown until at least the deadline. But I guess it depends. Status quo. GKG

I would trade Muffin in a heartbeat - Muffin and a mid level forward prospect

I think you would have to give up forbort too, which I think would be a good trade for you. Doesn't look like he's panned out the way you guys wanted anyway.

The Leafs will end up retaining salary, they have to or no one will want Phanuef.

Ek, why would Detroit take back some contracts for Cleary whos salary don't count against the cap?
